Funding Options

Kickstart or advance your tech career from Canada with a mix of discounts, flexible payment plans and Canadian funding programs that may help you cover part of your training costs.

At Code Labs Academy, we understand the importance of accessible education.

That’s why we highlight funding paths that Canadian learners and employers can explore, such as federal tax credits, provincial grants and employer training supports. These options can help reduce the out-of-pocket cost of eligible training so you can focus more on building skills and less on how to pay for them.
Availability and eligibility vary by program, province and training provider, so you should always confirm your personal situation with the relevant government office, your employer or a qualified advisor before applying.

Canada Training Credit (Federal Tax Credit)

The Canada Training Credit (CTC) is a refundable federal tax credit that helps with eligible training fees. Each year, qualifying Canadians can accumulate a balance (up to a lifetime limit) that may be used to claim a credit for up to half of eligible tuition and related fees on their tax return. You must meet CRA criteria and your course and provider must be recognised as eligible, so always verify your own eligibility with the Canada Revenue Agency or a tax professional before relying on this credit for funding.

Canada Job Grant & Provincial Employer Training Grants

Across Canada, employer‑driven training grants such as the Canada Job Grant and provincial programs (for example, the Canada‑Ontario Job Grant, Canada‑Alberta Job Grant or the B.C. Employer Training Grant) can help businesses cover a significant portion of third‑party training costs for new and existing employees. These cost‑sharing programs are typically applied for by employers and can fund short, focused skills training delivered by eligible training providers. If your employer is interested in sponsoring your upskilling, they should review their province’s employer training grant criteria and confirm whether a Code Labs Academy bootcamp can be supported before applying.

Better Jobs Ontario (Ontario Learners)

Better Jobs Ontario is a provincial program that offers eligible unemployed or underemployed Ontario residents funding for skills training in in‑demand fields. Depending on individual circumstances, it may contribute to tuition, books, transportation and, in some cases, basic living expenses for programs typically up to two years in length. Not all training providers or programs are eligible, and applicants must work with an Employment Ontario office to determine whether their chosen course meets the program’s requirements. If you’re in Ontario, you can speak with an Employment Ontario counsellor to ask whether a Code Labs Academy bootcamp could be part of a Better Jobs Ontario plan.

StrongerBC Future Skills Grant (B.C. Learners)

The StrongerBC Future Skills Grant has been used to help B.C. residents access up to a set amount (for example, $3,500) in funding for eligible short‑term skills training at participating institutions. The goal is to support British Columbians in developing skills for high‑demand jobs. Availability, intake windows and eligible providers are determined by the Province of British Columbia and may change over time, so learners in B.C. should check the latest program details and confirm whether any course they are considering is offered through an approved institution before planning to use this grant.

Employer-Sponsored Training & Professional Development Budgets

Many Canadian employers offer their own professional development budgets or tuition assistance to support employees pursuing relevant training. Even when government grants are not used, your organisation may choose to cover part or all of your bootcamp tuition as part of a learning and development plan. If you are currently employed, consider talking to your manager or HR team about whether upskilling in areas such as Cyber Security, Data Science & AI, Web Development or UX/UI Design aligns with your role and could be funded in full or in part by your employer.

Code Labs Academy Discounts & Payment Plans

Alongside external funding options, Code Labs Academy offers its own discounts (such as Women in Tech, alumni, early bird and Study Buddies) and flexible payment plans to reduce upfront costs. While these are not government programs, they can be combined with some external supports where rules allow, helping many learners in Canada make their bootcamp more affordable. Our team can help you understand how internal discounts and instalment plans might interact with any funding or tax credits you are exploring.
