Funding with SkillsFuture in Singapore

A practical guide to SkillsFuture Credit, course fee subsidies, and other Singapore training support — so you can plan your learning journey with confidence.

What is SkillsFuture Credit?

SkillsFuture Credit is a Government training credit that eligible Singapore Citizens can use to pay for approved courses. Most Singaporeans receive an opening SkillsFuture Credit of S$500 from age 25.

If you’re mid-career, you may have additional support available too (for example, SkillsFuture Credit (Mid-Career) top-ups and enhanced subsidies for selected programmes).

Does it cover full tuition?

It depends on your eligibility and whether the programme is eligible under the relevant SkillsFuture funding scheme. In many cases, course fee subsidies reduce the payable fees, and SkillsFuture Credit can be used to offset the remaining balance.

Who can apply?

Common routes to reduce course fees in Singapore include:

  • Based in Singapore

Most SkillsFuture funding schemes are intended for Singapore Citizens (and some schemes also support Singapore Permanent Residents) taking eligible courses.

  • You may qualify under one (or more) of these pathways:

    • SkillsFuture Credit

Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above have SkillsFuture Credit that can be used for eligible courses.

    • Course Fee Subsidies (SSG Funding)

Many approved courses come with course fee subsidies. Subsidy support is typically higher for Singapore Citizens than for Permanent Residents, with enhanced subsidies available for eligible mid-career learners.

    • SkillsFuture Career Transition Programme (SCTP)

A train-and-place programme designed for individuals reskilling for a new role, with course fee subsidies and career support for eligible learners.

    • Workfare Skills Support (WSS)

Support for eligible lower-wage workers, including course fee support and (for eligible courses) training allowance and training commitment awards.

    • Employer sponsorship

If your employer is sponsoring your upskilling, there may be enterprise training support available depending on your company’s eligibility and the course type.
