Funding & Training Vouchers in Italy
A practical guide to funding routes, eligibility, and how to apply.
A practical guide to funding routes, eligibility, and how to apply.
Unlike countries with a single national education voucher, Italy’s funded training is usually delivered through national and regional initiatives. Depending on where you live and your profile, you may access training support through your local employment services, regional ESF+ calls, or employer-sponsored training routes.
Common options include Programma GOL (Garanzia di Occupabilità dei Lavoratori) for jobseekers, regional voucher schemes (voucher/assegni formativi) published by Regions, and employer-funded upskilling via Interprofessional Funds (Fondi Interprofessionali) or the Fondo Nuove Competenze.
Coverage varies by programme and Region. Some schemes can cover most eligible training costs, while others require co-financing or have caps per learner. If you’re exploring a funded route, our team can help you understand what’s typically required and how to position your application.
Eligibility depends on the programme and Region, but funding routes in Italy often target:
Most programmes require you to live (and sometimes work) in Italy, and to apply through your Region or local services (for example, your Centro per l’Impiego or a regional portal).
If you’re registered with your Centro per l’Impiego, you may be directed into a personalised pathway that can include training—often including digital upskilling—depending on your assessment and local availability.
If you’re a young person (often NEET—not in employment, education, or training), Garanzia Giovani can provide access to training and employability measures. Specific age ranges and measures depend on the Region.
If you’re employed, your company may be able to fund training through Fondi Interprofessionali (continuous training funds). When open and applicable, the Fondo Nuove Competenze can also support reskilling by financing training time.
Some Regions publish ESF+ funded vouchers for professionals and freelancers to update skills (often with an application window, caps, and eligible course types).
Identify the route that fits your situation: jobseeker (CPI/GOL), youth programmes (Garanzia Giovani), employer-sponsored training, or a regional ESF+ voucher call.
If you’re a jobseeker: contact your local Centro per l’Impiego and ask about training pathways under Programma GOL. You can start by reading the official overview here: Programma GOL.
If you’re eligible for youth measures: register and follow your Region’s steps on the official portal: Garanzia Giovani.
If you’re exploring regional vouchers: check your Region’s ESF+ / training pages and search active calls (a good starting point is incentivi.gov.it).
If your employer may sponsor training: ask HR whether your company uses Fondi Interprofessionali or other training budgets, and what documentation they need from the training provider.
