Funding Options for Your Bootcamp in Austria

Austria doesn’t use the German Bildungsgutschein system — instead, funding is typically explored through AMS (Arbeitsmarktservice) and regional programmes. Here’s how to understand your options and get started.

How bootcamp funding works in Austria

Depending on your situation (unemployed, jobseeking, reskilling, or employed and upskilling), you may be able to access support through AMS and/or regional funding organisations. Funding can take different forms, such as tuition support, training measures agreed with AMS, or allowances that help cover living costs during training.

Because eligibility and approval depend on your personal circumstances and the specific programme, we recommend booking a call with our team first. We’ll help you understand the study format, outline your learning plan, and prepare the information you may need for your funding conversation.

Can it cover full tuition?

In some cases, funding may cover a large part of tuition — and in other cases it may support you in different ways (for example through a stipend or allowances during training). Funding decisions are always made by the responsible body (e.g., AMS or a regional organisation) and are subject to eligibility and approval.

Who can apply?

Exact requirements vary by programme, but common eligibility pathways in Austria include:

  • Resident in Austria

You’ll usually need to be resident in Austria and able to provide proof of address (for example, a Meldezettel) and other documents requested by the funding body.

  • You may fit one of these situations:

    • Registered with AMS as unemployed or jobseeking

If you are registered with AMS, training measures and course cost support may be possible as part of an agreed plan to improve employability.

    • Reskilling into a shortage occupation (Fachkräftestipendium)

Austria offers support pathways aimed at helping people retrain into in-demand roles. Depending on the programme and your case, this can include financial support while you qualify.

    • Women moving into technical careers (FiT – Frauen in Handwerk und Technik)

AMS’ FiT programme supports women pursuing technical training routes, helping remove barriers to entering tech and engineering-related fields.

    • Regional funding (e.g., Vienna / WAFF and other regional schemes)

Some regions offer additional training grants or subsidies. For example, Vienna residents may be eligible for WAFF support depending on criteria and programme availability.

    • Employed and upskilling (education-leave style schemes)

Rules for education-leave style support in Austria have changed recently and may continue to evolve. If you’re employed and want to upskill, check the current AMS guidance and ask your employer about available pathways.
