Funding a bootcamp in Korea

One route in Korea reaches a course you choose yourself, and it is a strong one: your employer buys the training out of its own budget, or through its 사내근로복지기금 where it has one. There is no accreditation test in that rule and no agency to apply to. This page sorts the Korean options into the ones that can pay for a course with us and the ones that are built for training registered inside Korea, so you can spend your time on the first kind.

Why Korea sorts so cleanly into two piles

Korea funds vocational training generously, and it does it through registers. 국민내일배움카드, K-디지털 트레이닝, 평생교육이용권 and the employer refund schemes are all built the same way: the money moves when a course is registered and its provider licensed inside Korea, which is what those instruments were designed to do. That design is why the sorting on this page is unusually clean. Everything that runs through a register belongs to courses inside it, and everything that runs through a company budget is a decision your employer makes on its own. The second pile is smaller and it is the one that works here, because a Korean company buying training for its own business needs is an ordinary deductible purchase with no provider approval anywhere in the rule. Start there, and use the rest of this page to stop paying attention to the first pile.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use my 국민내일배움카드 for a course with you?

The card pays for courses that hold 훈련과정 인정 and are delivered by providers licensed inside Korea, which is the system it was built to run. That is a fact about the instrument rather than about your course choice, and it is the same for every provider outside the Korean register. The route that does reach us is your employer's own budget, which carries no approval requirement at all, and it is the first section of this page.

Would getting a Korean accreditation change that?

It is a corporate project rather than a form. A provider inside the Korean system exists as a Korean legal person first, with business registration, a training-institution number and an assessment to pass, and the remote-training route has its own facility and staffing requirements on top. We are honest that this is a market-entry question rather than something that could be arranged for one reader's cohort. Meanwhile the employer route needs none of it.

My company has never paid a foreign provider. Is that a problem?

It is a paperwork question rather than a legal one. A Korean company buying training from an outside specialist for its own business needs is an ordinary deductible purchase, and the invoice is an ordinary foreign invoice. What helps is asking your finance team early what they need on it, and having the course documentation, hours and schedule ready when you ask. We provide all of that in writing.

Will my employer's support be taxed as my salary?

It depends on 업무관련성 and on how the purchase is structured, and the distinction is worth getting right before anything is signed rather than after. Training the company commissions for its own business needs sits differently from a reimbursement of a course you bought privately. The page on 교육훈련비 deduction and how it is taxed sets out where the line falls and what to put in writing.

What is a 사내근로복지기금 and how would I know if we have one?

It is a separate legal entity a company funds for employee welfare, with its own rules and its own decision-making, and self-development support is a normal thing for one to cover. Larger employers are more likely to have one. Ask HR directly, because it is a different approval from the L&D budget with a different owner, and people commonly ask for the budget without knowing the fund exists. Both are covered on employer sponsorship and the 사내근로복지기금.

I am between jobs. What is realistically open to me?

Allowances paid while you retrain are about covering your months rather than a course fee, so treat them as a separate question from the invoice and do not plan the fee around them. For the fee itself, the two things that work are a future or current employer funding it and the interest-free instalment plan, which spreads the cost over up to 60 monthly payments paid directly to Code Labs Academy. If a job offer is in view, the employer conversation is worth having before you start rather than after.
