A simple, free speed test
This tool helps you diagnose connection issues, check whether your setup is ready for live learning, or confirm that you’re getting the performance you expect. For the most accurate result, close downloads and streaming in the background and pause cloud sync tools during the test. If you use security software that actively scans network traffic, it may slightly affect results—if you pause it, remember to re-enable it immediately after the test. Then click “Start” to measure your download, upload, ping, and jitter.
How the measurement works
To measure your connection, our server sends packets of data to your device and times how quickly they arrive (download). It then measures how fast your device can send packets back (upload). Ping and jitter are calculated by repeating this exchange and measuring delay and consistency. During the test, avoid using bandwidth-heavy apps (streaming, large downloads, video calls) to prevent distorted results.
What the results mean
Our speed test measures four key parts of connection quality: download, upload, ping (latency), and jitter.
-
Download speed: How fast data travels from the internet to your device (usually shown in Mbps). Higher download speed helps with streaming, loading websites, and downloading files.
-
Upload speed: How fast data is sent from your device to the internet (also in Mbps). Higher upload speed is important for video calls, sending large files, screen sharing, and live learning participation.
-
Ping (latency): How long it takes for a packet to travel to a server and back (ms). Lower ping generally means more responsive video calls, real-time collaboration, and online gaming.
-
Jitter: How consistent your latency is over time. Low jitter helps keep calls and live sessions smooth and reduces audio/video glitches.
Run multiple tests for a clearer picture
A single test can be influenced by temporary network traffic, Wi‑Fi interference, or server load. For a more reliable view, run a few tests at different times of day and compare results. Averaging them usually gives a more accurate idea of your typical connection performance.
