A fast, free Internet Speed Test
This tool is useful for troubleshooting connectivity issues, confirming your Wi‑Fi setup, or simply checking if your connection is stable enough for video calls and screen sharing. For the most reliable measurement, close downloads and streaming apps before you start. If you use VPN software, consider disconnecting temporarily (then reconnect afterwards), as VPNs can change the route your traffic takes and may impact results. Click “Start” and let the test run uninterrupted—no sign-up required.
How the measurement works
Our server sends data packets to your device and measures how quickly they arrive and return. To improve accuracy, the test uses multiple packet sizes and runs long enough to capture a representative sample. During the test, avoid browsing, downloading, or syncing files, because the speed test uses the available bandwidth to produce a clear measurement.
What the results mean
This speed test measures four key parts of your internet connection: download, upload, ping (latency), and jitter.
-
Download Speed: How fast data comes from the internet to your device (Mbps). Higher download speeds help with streaming, browsing, downloading files, and watching course videos smoothly.
-
Upload Speed: How fast data goes from your device to the internet (Mbps). Strong upload is important for video calls, sharing your screen, uploading assignments, and sending large files.
-
Ping (Latency): The time it takes for a signal to travel to a server and back (ms). Lower ping usually means a more responsive connection—especially noticeable in live calls and real-time collaboration.
-
Jitter: How consistent the connection is (variation in latency). Low jitter matters for stable video calls, VoIP, and online learning sessions where audio/video should stay smooth.
Run multiple tests for a clearer picture
One speed test result can be misleading because network performance changes throughout the day (especially during peak evening hours). For a more accurate view, run the test several times at different times and compare results. Averaging multiple tests gives a better estimate of your typical download and upload speeds.
If you’re studying online from Italy, knowing your real connection speed can help you set up a reliable learning environment. A stable connection makes live classes, pair work, and video calls smoother—so you can focus on learning, not troubleshooting.
