A simple, free internet speed test
This tool is useful for diagnosing network issues, optimising your setup for video calls, or checking whether your connection performance matches what your internet plan promises. For the most accurate result, close downloads and streaming apps before testing. Tip: Security software and browser extensions can sometimes affect results. You don’t usually need to disable antivirus—just make sure no scans or large background updates are running during the test.
How the measurement works
Our server sends data packets to your device to measure download and upload performance. It transfers multiple packets of different sizes and times how long the round-trip takes. Because the test uses available bandwidth, avoid downloading files, streaming video, or running cloud sync during the measurement.
What the results mean
Our speed test measures four key parts of your internet connection: download speed, upload speed, ping (latency), and jitter.
-
Download speed: How fast data travels from the internet to your device (Mbps). Higher download speeds help with streaming, downloading files, and loading websites.
-
Upload speed: How fast data travels from your device to the internet (Mbps). Higher upload speeds improve video calls, screen sharing, cloud backups, and sending large files.
-
Ping (latency): How long it takes for a data packet to travel to a server and back (ms). Lower ping usually means a more responsive connection—important for live classes, video calls, and online gaming.
-
Jitter: How consistent packet timing is. Low jitter is especially important for stable video conferencing, VoIP calls, and live online learning.
Run multiple tests for a clearer picture
A single speed test can vary due to Wi‑Fi interference, device performance, or network congestion—especially during peak hours. For a more reliable view of your connection in Finland, run the test a few times at different times of day and compare the results.
Knowing your internet speed helps you set up your learning environment for success—whether you’re joining live bootcamp sessions, collaborating remotely, or working from home.
